Nighty night

Our bedtime routine is pretty standard. Put on the pjs, turn down the lights and on the night light, read a few stories, sing a few lullabies, say bedtime prayers and nurse to sleep. Every 2 or 3 nights there is a bath thrown in before the routine. Anybody else have anything to spice up a bedtime routine in a mellow way?

I mostly use the one my parents used with my brother and I, but I thought there might be other tried and true traditions worth throwing in. Plus I have been a little low on comments lately, and I have been wondering if people are actually out there! ;)

I'd love to hear how you were put to bed/how you put your kiddos down for the night. What was good? What would you skip?

This isn't an every-night type of thing, but I've discovered a great way to get Laidey to sleep. I wrap her up in her blankie, have her pacifier nearby just in case, and we sit on my exercise ball and bounce for awhile. She loves the motion, and more often than not she'll be asleep very soon after!

I remember when I was a kid, my sisters and I had a collection of stories on tape - it was like a box set, with fairy tales and other stories. And after bath time and kisses goodnight, we would listen to a tape on our way to Dreamland :)

We do the normal go to bed routine, too. Brent has been having the boys pick out a book and he sits inbetween them and reads before bed while I relax, it is nice! We are better with our devotions in the morning, so we don't do those at night. Nothing too exciting, huh?

Elena is a strange character. She loves to be danced to sleep! We start by feeding her first, then bath, pj's and then we put on some music...lately her favorite cd is one Daniel made her, and we cuddle and dance all around her room while I sing along with the songs. We laugh, we cry...then she slowl drifts off to sleep. it's been working well til she got this ear infection!
